Laurie assists Dr. Kaplan in a variety of patient care and administrative operations and is primarily responsible for managing the eyewear selection available at our office. Laurie’s seven years in jewelry sales and as a personal stylist at Nordstrom make her ideally suited for helping patients select frames that reflect their unique personal style and taste. Previously, Laurie spent many years as the Executive Director of a non-profit organization that served adults and children with developmental disabilities. She has a Master’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from San Francisco State University. This background supports Dr. Kaplan in his treatment of children with vision-related learning issues. Esteffani grew up in Marin County and, after graduating high school, attended the College of Marin studying psychology. Her interest in optometry began when she joined the staff at Warby Parker, working there for 2 ½ years. Following that, she developed a wide variety of optical related skills, working four years at Larkspur Landing Optometry. Esteffani says that she loves her work and is thrilled to have joined us here at Mill Valley Optometry.
With her years of experience in the optical field, Esteffani provides a welcoming and knowledgeable presence at our front desk, scheduling all of our appointments and assisting patients with intake and insurance procedures. She provides various supports for Dr. Kaplan and assists in our busy optical area as well.
Esteffani enjoys hiking, going to the beach, cooking and spending time with her family, many of whom live in the Bay Area. Please feel free to ask her any questions that you may have about the services you receive at our optometry office.
Amy assists Dr. Kaplan with special projects such as researching local educational and medical resources related to vision therapy services. She also provides invaluable assistance with administrative front-desk procedures and in our optical area. She has a broad spectrum of skills reflecting an interesting career in the arts and business.
After graduating from the University of North Texas, Amy worked for several years for A&M Records which, after handling promotions and administration in Atlanta, Georgia, eventually brought her to San Francisco. She then worked for Lucasfilm Ltd., recruiting and coordinating talent for Industrial Light and Magic. Following that, Amy switched gears and founded a personal assistance company in honor of her Grandmother, helping many of the senior residents at the Redwoods in Mill Valley. She returned to Texas to assist her aging Mother during the pandemic and most recently returned to the Bay Area. Currently wearing many hats in her work life, she is a House Manager at the Marin Art and Garden Center, a Facilities Manager at O’Hanlon Center for the Arts, and provides much appreciated support to all of us at Mill Valley Optometry.
