Vision and eye health examinations for the entire family
Our examination is extremely thorough and is designed to detect a wide range of visual conditions. We incorporate computerized technology to assist the evaluation of spectacle prescriptions, peripheral vision, intraocular pressure, and eye health. Examinations include tests for glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, as well as secondary effects that result from diabetes and high blood pressure.
Your vision examination may result in a prescription for glasses, which will be specific for distance vision, reading or computer use. We can customize your vision correction for any occupational use. Special emphasis is placed on binocular vision testing during your eye examination because many vision problems such as headaches, eyestrain, or double vision result from poor flexibility of the eye muscles. Dr. Kaplan is specially trained to evaluate for vision problems that interfere with visual efficiency and reading comprehension for children and adults.
We will then discuss a plan of action, which may include the fitting of contact lenses, choosing the proper Eyewear and lens options or making specific recommendations to prevent or improve your visual health.
The benefits of a complete eye examination are
- Early detection of eye health or medical condition
- Prevention of deteriorating eyesight

- Identify a binocular vision or depth perception problems
- Detect vision-related learning disability or Dyslexia in children and adults

Digital Photography of the Eyes
A dilated pupil examination allows the best assessment of eye health and is recommended for all new patients and on a scheduled basis thereafter.
Our new retinal camera offers an instant high resolution photo of the retina, optic nerve and macula. We recommend this state of the art screening test to all our patients to assist in the early detection of glaucoma, age-related macula degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment and ocular tumors.
This digital record is highly valuable for comparisons at future office visits or sharing with your general practitioner. In many instances, the photograph can be taken without the use of dilating drops. There is an additional charge for this test.
